intermediate wheat grass

the bed of "wild and weedy' perennial wheat ancestor that i have next to the annual spring wheat has gone to seed...that comes as something of a surprise to me since the reading i have done told me that when planted in rows rather than clumps intermediate wheat grass reproduces rhyzomatically rather than by seeding...yet the land instute plant scientists ( dr. lee dehann specifically) say they're 97% sure it is wheat grass based on the photos i sent ( he would need to see it in person to be 100% sure)...if you look imaginatively at the third photo you can convince yourself that the wheatgrass ( just behind the staked up asparagus) has organized itself into four clumps ( sort of), which may explain the reason it contradicted the readings...or, perhaps the readings ( or reader) were faulty...whatever the reason, i have wheat grass seed to add to the produce of the garden and i'm pleased since what morphology is of interest as much as that of maize...now to try for better photos....the last photo is zea diploperennis...put it up because i am still geeked that it is growing so well
