maintenance trip

nothing especially important going on in the garden this week....just the grunt work of maintaining the place...watering, weeding....a small-scale project to get the asparagus up off the ground and out of the greoun crew's way when they are trying to mow ( and let me take the opportunity to say thanks! to them for being so considerate and careful when it comes to working around the little plot)...everything seems to be doing well...no starling assaults on the wheat yet...but then it hasn't ripened yet either...turnips, beets, jerusalem artichokes are all doing fine....i'm letting the spinach go to seed so i can collect some for another crop in the fall...we'll eat what's here at home...the season is in full swing...the beets and turnips will be done by july...the rutabagas will go in along with cowpeas as the others are harvested...the yams are throwing out vines and it will be time to expand the trellis soon...like i said...all routine stuff...i'm curious to see how big the teosinte will get and if that is northern tepehuan teosinte i will be interested in seeing the differences between the annual and the perennial strains...here's hoping the rest of the season goes as smoothly as it has so far.
