the pgp starts another month

the pgp is well along into its third season and there is still movement out there...the asparagus has put up yet another spear and in a few day's time it has reached a height of around two feet and has started to 'fern"...more feeding for the massive root system these plants support ( six to eight feet deep and with a diameter of pretty much the same dimensions at the base of the system )...the cowpeas are growing and the deep green of the leaves tells me that they're getting all the nitrogen they want...the rhizobia slurry i used to inoculate the seeds has hopefully led to a surplus of nitrogen in the soil...the plan is to utilize that fertility with a new set of plants i am hopeful of receiving this month that will mark a new return to perennials...the brussels sprouts are finally going vertical...they are an autumn crop ( part of an education of the old idea in eating in season...anticipation is part of the reward and eating in season avoids jaded tastes...okay..enough soapbox...back to events in the garden ) and should begin producing soon...still geeked by teosinte and the northern tepehuan teosinte is doing really well...still waiting for flowers...last photo is of the pgp at around ten this morning with ( allegedly ) the remnants of a hurricane moving in ( believe it when i see it)
