transpiration III

if you have a look back at the posts from two weeks ago you will see that the corn in the field by the supermarket has grown a bit...it must be at least nine feet tall which is a bit taller than normal for industrial corn and in another departure form the usual each plant seems to be developing two ears instead of one...a different gmo/hybrid...while the leaves on some of the plants are exhibiting a but of transpirational curl, they are nothing like the plants in the gardens...the drying of the soil isn't having the same impact out in the industrial fields...another line of evidence to go with the bean field...among other things the bottom two photos demonstrate the family habit of support roots and the fact that there is still a lot of open ground in this corn field despite the appearance of a green monolith...there will be more on the life of this crop whether the weather says dry or not.
