ollala potatoes and the storage project

this ollala potato had died back ( that green is lambs' quarters ) so it was time to harvest and add to the storage project...this particular plant produced six tubers over the course of its season and of the six three were twins...odd..for me at least...they will be headed to a box in the basement with some eucalyptus leaves and some lavender to join the early blue and yema de huevos already at rest there...well...sort of at rest...the early blue are solid and inert, which is what i am after right now...the yema de huevos are determined not to co-operate with the plan...they are soft and they are all sprouting despite the lavender ( which leads me to question whether the folk system of adding lavender is effective or if some tubers just don't sprout as readily...i have four strains of potatoes to work with and i am not sure that is a big enough sample to find an answer...but it's what i have and so it's what i will work with ) so i will be obtaining some bushel baskets which will be lined with charcoal to absorb excess moisture, filling them with soil and compost, ans setting up the grow light for an indoor potato season experiment...i don't think those tubers will survive the winter in the boxes so i will try to accommodate their restlessness...more if it comes up.
