there's some stuff i'd like ot save...

as time winds down in the old garden we are preparing to move and there is plant life that is up and running after overwintering in the beds...the garlic that we planted last autumn is robust in its spring growth and there is quite a bit of it..twenty-four plants at last counting with a couple of no-shows that were planted at the back of a bed that was buried in snow plowed up from the lot behind the garden and probably did not survive the harsh winter that seems to be ( finally ) loosening its grip...the strawberries are still mulched and i am concerned about them on a couple of fronts...we will be opening the bed this coming weekend but we are more than a month before the average last frost date...i foresee trips with frost cloth to the garden...of more concern is if they will tolerate root disturbance...they don't root deeply...only about eleven inches...so removing them with minimal root damage should be within reason...but they are perennials and perennials as a rule don't like to be tampered with once they are established...we will try..we will see...more this coming weekend.
