three days into the new teosinte seed soaking season there is movement...some good...some bad...mostly neutral in that in most cases nothing much is happening...the seeds that i harvested from the plants in the basement last weekend have started to grow mold ( top photo )...so i grabbed some more brown paper towel ( second photo )and distilled water to prepare a new baggie for the non-moldy seeds ( third photo )...however, when i opened the baggie containing the 2012 seed form native seed search one of the seven seeds has clearly begun to germinate ( fourth photo )...that is fine news for this gardener and so there will be a planting soon...a few short weeks outside to get started and then under the lights ( new fixtures this season with broader spectrum bulbs )...positive tuesday news.
an industrial worker and university student (everyone needs a hobby...my hobbies have evolved and, to keep things straight, i have left my formal student career behind for reasons that are too detailed to delve into here...continuing to be a student of life however and not adverse to learning...stasis is death ) sliding down the back side of middle age...a social loner with collectivist leanings...explain that.
