late season behemoth

not unheard of october warmth here...especially early...still after a few days in the sixties it probably feels warmer than it is...the mild temperatures hare having an impact on the season though...
one of the behemoth maize plants is down...snapped off at ground level because even with artifical support it was just unnaturally tall...i saved the odd growths it erupted in and we will look into those later...the other one is still up and it is an hierloom without a doubt...
it has tillered which is something monsanto or bayer's corn will refuse adamantly to do...
and all up the main stalk and tillers it has come out in silks...
and multiple ears ( something else monsanto and bayer's dense yellow # 2 will refuse to do beyond the standard two )...it is exceedingly late and i have no idea whether these will mature before a frost hits or not..we are only six days away from the "average" first frost date here...still..climate change may be on the side of the maize...for the nonce...
and some october zea mexicana ears because it's my blog.
