campus peanuts

is where the drought monitor says the campus garden and my back yard ( as well as the "other" garden ) are at today...
and the lawn in the garden is clear evidence of that..complex transportation issues have kept me out of the garden since last month so i was a bit concerned about what i would find...
the asparagus is so deeply rooted it was not a concern...it is "fernng" and flowering and seemed fine...
and so did the potatoes on the back side...if someone has been watering, thank you...
still, the soil was powdery dry so everyone got a healthy dose of water...
in my "official" bed the "native growth" does not seem to mind the dry...so there was some "weeding" to do...
there is some garlic up and running well...however the results of spring garlic have been disappointing at best and this will be my only foray into that...autumn planting for next season...
the volunteer spuds are doing well...
the alfalfa is robust...
and my elegant correspondent will be pleased to see it is still in open rebellion...
it is also nearly in full bloom...ready to feed the bees...
the carolina horse nettle is readying its blooms as well...nettles or not the bees will be there...
last autumn i harvested some peanuts that had been produced by volunteer seed that had been spread by the jays feeding on the raw peanuts that were scattered around the bird feeders...
so when i got home i prepared a bed back by the back fence...
shelled the nuts...and planted all sixteen...we will see if we get yellow peanut blooms this summer.
