backyard wheatgrass
there wasn't quite enough room in the campus garden for all twelve plants i received so i put three in the backyard in the sunniest spot there is among the trees that are shading the ramps and ginseng...one from each of the three strains dr. dehaan sent to me...so far the weather has been well within the "no mulch" parameters he outlined...but it is awfully dry here...the .soil in my yard is dry ti a depth if ariund twelve inches as i discovered while i was trying to both harvest sunchokes and dig trenches to store the campus harvest in...it rained some last month but there's still a drought on...the plants will need careful watering until the go completely dormant...then again, last winter was so mild i don't think the winter wheat ever did go dormant...i am curious to see what this winter brings
