late afternoon stroll through change
this is a corner of the south bed twelve days ago and today...
and the same bed six days ago and today...gradual changes add up...
there has been an escape from the bed as well...relentless colonizers, these jerusalem artichokes will have to be controlled ( another control issue with perennials...they are all invasive )
what caught my eye the most this evening though was the ramps...the above ground part of their season is winding down ...for the most part...
however, at least four of them are preparing to flower...i believe i had six last season and harvested a bumper crop of seed...some of which i froze and some of which i scattered about...with some good fortune there will be many seeds again this year...you can't have too many wild leeks.
