some done, some on the verge, some cooking

last week rain, this week hot and dry so when i went out to water this morning i took the opportunity to have a look around...the squash has begun to bloom...
the pole beans have not...
the hard red winter wheat that pulled through is done and will be coming in soon to provide seed for this coming autumn planting...
the volunteer field pea is done for the year...
so i have some seed to grow more seed with...
the winter rye by the locust tree is done...
while the rye in the bed still has some green going on...
have i mentioned asparagus "berries"? first seed in a few years and i will be spreading it around...
mulberries are ripening ad falling from the trees...
the concord grapes in the trees...
and the seedless grapes on the trellis are beginning to look more like grapes...
while the jerusalem artichokes are verdant and somewhere between four and five feet tall...blooming towards the end of the month or so...ready in september...finished at home i wandered over to the portage comunity garden to check ( and water ) my bed there...
the bed was in need of water, however nothing was desperate...
the spuds are lush even if the change in weather has them procrastinating about blooming...
the maize and its tillers look like a john steuart curry painting...
the beans are coming along...even the latecomers...
the now fully adapted and robust quinoa is on the verge of blooming i believe...
and the weather has done nothing if not encourage the pollinators...more from the campus garden in a couple of days.
