maize
ancestors, putative ancestors, and the domesticate. top photo is Zea diploperennis, the secon is what i believe to be ( but have not yet positively identified...i have been fooled before) northern tepehuan teosinte, the third photo is second season eastern gamagrass, and the bottom photo is sweet corn that germinated from the seeds i bought at lowes ( the envelope does say they are not transgenetic..which i believe since i didn't have to sign an agreement with monsanto not to save seeds when i planted it)...there is a gradient of family resemblance.
