flowers and ears

two varieties of teosinte...two types of flowers...northern tepehuan on the left, zea mays parvaglumis on the right...
the way the parvaglumis flowers look while and after they emerge...
far more closely resembles the flowers of the perennial strain zea diploperennis...her emerging in the perennial garden project in october of 2013...similar looks and timing...devil genetics...
in the meantime the northern tepehuan teosinte continues to develop ears and seeds...it's teosinte time..i have waited all season for this...sue me if i go on too long to suit you.
