what, i wonder, happened to my wheat...

i hadn't been to the garden in awhile...this may have been error...

when i got to my bed i was immediately unhappy ( i have an audio witness to my discomfiture )...

the last time i was at the garden this corner of wheat looked like this...coming along...

this morning it looked like this...

last trip...

today...something is up with the wheat...

my back yard has received a shade over two and a half inches of rain so far this month...some of it in torrents...

and while the wheat i planted in my yard a few days before the garden planting has been a bit bludgeoned by it in places...

for the most part they have held up well and should be fine given enough snow this winter...so..what happened at the garden...it would be nice if i knew...it is late in terms of winter wheat planting..almost a month...i will try one more planting and if it does not work i will be turning the bed under and sarting from scratch come spring.
