then again, perhaps not

a trip put top campus after work tells me that the audible pop i heard last trip put was not anything detrimental tot he asparagus i was propping up...
the staked asparagus is looking robust...
the "branches" are still green and ferned, and blooms have appeared...
while under the canopy there are two new spears...in attempting to help i did no serious damage...the gardener is pleased...if not with himself then definitely with the plants...
over in my bed things are coming along, a resident of the apartment building next to the garden with whom i have a "hey man, how's it going" acquaintance with ( we should formalize perhaps...but that might alter the ease of communication..."man" is good enough ) asked me if i was going to put in corn "for the squirrels"...i said i was...then he asked my why my bed had been moved and garden politics crept in..kept that short and to the point and moved on...told him to help himself when things got ripe...he said he would..."but not like them library women who come over with shopping bags"...i have a friend in the community who is looking after things...
all round growth is good ( except teocintli...we will get there )...
the alfalfa is booing...
the spuds are working hard...between eight and ten inches tall these days...
and the michigan purple is making noise about blooming...
finally...this zea mays mexicana is the only teocintli plant that seems to be thriving...there is a northern tepehuan that is trying and may yet succeed...i have back-up seed germinating that will need planting soon..it may go in with some maize later this week...we will see.
