some stuff around the yard

there is maize blooming across the back yard...

and newly emerged silks are telling me about ears to come...

keeping things in the family, a few of the teosinte plants have bloomed as well...

at least two of the plants have already begun to produce ears with increasingly evident seed...

there is habitat and resources for non-plant life back there too...we have bees ( although, for the most part, not honeybees despite the presence of large swathes of clover )...

monarch caterpillars are munching away at the butterfly weed...

and yesterday i found this little guy ( inch nose to tail in this position anyway ) lounging on a corn leaf...dna everywhere.
