hastening towards a new "normal"?

my last post was titled, if i recall correctly, "a bit drier" and i believe we may safely set that concept aside for the nonce since the seven tenths of an inch of precipitation measured yesterday...
has increased by well over an inch in this morning's "rain event" which is the new weather paradigm...until it changes again...possibly tomorrow...possibly not...
the rain hasn't put a damper on the new york imports...this is what...their third season i believe...planted early 2017...and there are blooms and stolons almost everywhere you find a plant...they are okay with the weather...
the locals are beginning to chime in with their own blooms...which, unlike the yorkers, will be going on into october...
the stems on the winter rye are beginning to bulge in a fecund sort of way...would expect ears of rye to begin emerging in a few weeks...
the northern tepehuan teocintli is exhibiting chlorophyll at the tips...a bit warmer and there will be the first leaves...and soon after it will be time to plant its descendant, maize...
over in the south bed the jerusalem artichokes are, somewhat ominously, announcing their intention to gain verticality over the season...it is their nature to be tall and relentless...
and remember those stolons? the import and the local berries are not nearly as tall as the jerusalem artichokes...however they are in no way less relentless in pursuit of territory...immovable object meets irresistible force...on top of one another in fact...the duel will continue...there will be casualties...surrender won't even be considered.
