harkening back to the success/failure post

the negra ojosa on campus had died back sufficiently to convince me that any more production wasn't happening...and ,in fact, no production occurred, when i popped it out of the ground i found only roots...no tubers had formed...a perfect score this season...that's gardening...i have a habit of being on campus when the lawn is being chem-lawned ( although today it was tru-green ) and the campus smelled like a bag of 10-10-30 turf builder...unfortunately they had already covered the area south of hawthorn hall and the fringes of the garden have been compromised...i picked the granules out as best i could but i'm afraid the pgp is marginally less organic today and i find that irritating...but...their lawn...their rules...tru-green is unwelcome in my yard...finally the squash is cycling through yet another blossoming...i happened to have a q-tip in the truck and i cross pollinated the two plants ( or. at least, i tired ) we'll see if that results in actual production...not the best day on campus today in either garden...hope for better on my next visit.
