enough potatoes already

it's a sunny but mildly chilly twenty-one degrees ( fahrenheit ) out in the back yard and the teosinte has thoroughly died back...multiple seed ears have opened and are still shattering away...i have collected some seed and i have left some lay on the ground and i am hoping some of it evades those fat little birds that are hanging around ( one would suppose they would be pigging out on the hawthorn berries but some aggressive cardinals have staked out that turf...they aren't even happy about me using the front door...just as well i am not a fancier of the berries )...once the whole potato business settles down i will be trying to germinate some of these seeds ( indoor and outdoor )and if they take we may be able to get something of a head start on their one hundred and fifty-five day germination to flowering season...that would please the gardener if no one else...more zea family news as it comes up.
