rye...wheat...wild and wedy ancestor

the autumnal equinox is just a few days away and there is renewed activity out back...
the rye i planted monday had begun to germinate...the weather has warmed here again so i expect the seed will be busying itself for the near term...
much the same in the wheat bed...
roots and sprouts are emerging from the seeds in there as well...a season underway th will, if all goes well, end late next june or early july with a grain harvest...
the wheat and rye aren't the only grasses on the move back there...
the northern tepehuan teosinte has fresh silks emerging...
and the first seedy ( webster's collegiate dictionary starts off alright defining that word as and adjective meaning "containing or full of seeds" and then goes right off the deep end with "inferior in condition or quality as:SHABBY, RUN-DOWN, SQUALID" sometimes i am aghast at the directions language takes ) ears are emerging from the stems as well...and...
we had a waspy visitor while i was out there...what, i wonder, has happened to the bees?
