progress II

you cannot really tell from this photo of the winter wheat bed...
however the seedling wheat that was searching for direction yesterday has oriented itself with roots and stems in proper order and the height is varying between three quarters of an inch to about an inch and a half...
you might have an easier time of it with the winter rye...
already rooted and on the rise yesterday, today there are actual leaves in view...sown on monday and in leaf on friday...the first step in the process seems to be coming off fairly well...it is also the one i have the most control over..ones they start to leaf and spread by rhizomes the rest is up to the plants and the weather...this is more on the extremely small side of agriculture as opposed to gardening...both have always been risky business...i can intervene in the lives of plants but i cannot control all the variables...
