basement early blue
geeked is what i am ( again ) a few of the early blue plants downstairs had begun to die back earlier in the week ( today is day 92 of the indoor second season ) and this morning they were done so i sifted through the container...i found three shriveled and useless tubers and these seven solid ones...i wasn't expecting any gargantuan spuds and there were none...what i did get is seven clearly blue tubers to plant around the gardens...and, if all goes well, that will result in seven plants outdoors producing more tubers...a third genration of seed tubers from samples i received from the potato introduction station in sturgeon's bay, wisconsin...and potatoes in the iu northwest community garden and the perennial garden project on campus...i watered these plants exactly twice in their season downstairs and kept the plant room ventilated and had fans moving air..i still had fungus issues...clearly a light watering schedule is in order for future basement tuber production...more as these tubers evolve into plants and back to tubers..i am fascinated with the process.
