filling the beds II

stopped off at campus after work to move a bit more soil into the new garden and made something of a discovery...i cleaned up the bed i started yesterday morning and moved on to one of the larger boxes i presumed held 42 cubic feet of soil...i have been wrong so often in life that being mistaken once again came as no real surprise...however the bottom half of the boxes are filled with sand...which i presume ( that word again...i seem never to learn )was meant for drainage...although i cannot recall drainage issues in the smaller beds at all...whatever the case my estimate of soil content in those boxes must now be halved to 21 cubic feet...there's still more than enough to fill the corner boxes and a few more besides over there and i believe we have found a source for some free municipal compost as well...things seem to be coming together...more as it comes up.
