struggles in defense of peasants' and farmers' seeds

today is via campesina's international day of farmers' struggles in defense of peasants' and farmers' seeds...a stand against agribusiness and for local food security...i'm on board with that and so i took via campesina's advice and planted some non-gmo seeds...specifically organic black tip and spring wheat and hakurei f1 turnips( not pictured )in beds i turned over in the green manures i planted in my yard last autumn...so the spring season has started at home as well ( actually it started last fall with the garlic and jerusalem artichokes...actually, given the potato project in the basement it never really ended ) and will be expanding precipitously over the next month or so...there will be adventures with intercropping ( the community garden is slated to have an attempt at the three sisters guild of maize, squash, and beans ) along with green manures, and ( hopefully ) the exotic ( for northwest indiana )mashua...throw in the geranium trap crop for beetles and the nematode controlling marigolds and we have an attempt as sustainable, non-chemical, urban gardeneing...find the results here as the season progresses.
