still a season out there
there are several sugar snap pea plants up and running ( top photo )...we putthem in because a cooler than normal septemeber is forecast and cool weather crops should thrive for a fall harvest...the cucumber plants may look tired but there's life in them yet as they continue to bloom and will do so until a hard frost ( second photo )...the jerusalem artichokes ( third photo ) are done with blooming and are now working on tubers....they look hardy and by just brushing aside a few inches of soil you can find tubers ( bottom photo ) along the rhizomes...they seem to promise a good harvest and we are looking forward to intorducing them to those who have never experienced them...sweeter than potatoes but as versatile they are as nutritious and as healthy...i'm a fan.
