outdoor teosinte I

the teosinte seeds i "naturalized" last fall and those i planted last month seem to be in no danger of germinating ( top photo ) ...which is odd given the success i had last fall in test germination and in the ones i soaked last sunday ( second photo ) ...so i mixed some compost with vermiculite ( third and fourth photos ) ...spread it on the soil i turned over in the bed ( fifth photo ) and watered thoroughly...
