it was a slow day so naturally i headed for the truck

the bush bean plant in the bed of my truck has pretty much spent its entire career working on this bean...which i plan to aloow to reach maturity and plant the seeds come spring..in the truck or not...
there are some buds down towards the bottom and the possibility of new blooms...but the plant cannot afford to be too relaxed...there are limits to the season...
i though that perhaps introducing a new truck bed mate might help things along...so i cleared out some of the native plants that have sprung up back there...
then i wandered back to the east bed where some new york imports i know live...
i was thinking of a specific one...a stolon i had pinned in a pot earlier in the season and which was going to have to be moved to a new home whatever occurred...i pulled the pot out of the bed and moseyed back tot he truck...
took it out of the pot...loosening the soil around the roots to tell the plant it was free of the pot...
and planted it up to the crown...
we had three tenths of an inch of rain ( in my back yard anyway ) yesterday and the soil in the truck was still moist from that...still, i gave the new truck denizen a shot of water to help reinforce the "you're free" message...these are hardy little plants and relentless colonizers...if this works out it will be the berry truck next year...and if they thrive they may be joined by the locals with the little yellow flowers...we'll see.
