over ruled
in an email exchange yesterday ellen, rebecca, and i had decided to let the cherry tree ride out the season in hopes of a miraculous turn around...this has been preempted by ( i suppose ) someone form the university ground crew who was mowing the lawn at the garden sometime yesterday...unfortunate, but unchangeable ( which is pretty much the unfortunate part...permanent is permanent ) so the garden has lost a totem and it wouldn't be advisable to replant until autumn so we will make do...the cucumbers have begun to vine onto the trellis ( albeit with some help in places ) and the largest of the plants has begun to flower...produce is on the way...the eggplants and tomatoes in the bed in the fourth photo are coming along as well...where, one wonders, are the squirrels? well...it is early yet...the bottom photo is a view along the north side of the garden including the hole left by the missing tree...i can't be angry because i imagine the intentions were good...but i am unhappy
