a new cycle of predation

sometime between my visit after work yesterday and about eight this morning the eggplant in the top photo became the broken off stem in the second...that fruit was ( i think ) entirely too small to be a target for a human...particularly since there are larger ones available, like the ones in the third and fourth photos...i had hoped that a year with better rainfall would mean the garden wouldn't be as attractive a place as it was last year in the drought...but...easy pickings are easy pickings...here's hoping there won't be the decimation there was in 2012.
