maize

many ears of maize have appeared in the garden all along the beds where it is planted...the apache red in the top photo is proclaiming its colors both in its husk and its tassel...the hopi blue in the second photo has developed two ears ( as have quite a few others...once again this is heirloom corn nor dense yellow #2 )...the ears on the sweet corn are becoming better defined and will be done sometime this month...keep an eye out for squirrels...there is natural competition for this...and there are beans and blooms on the maize in the three sisters' bed ( squash bloom...but no squash..yet )...we are all good in the garden ( if not anywhere else )...the season stands on its own merits.
