outback II
i was out doing some yard work and when i finished i got the spading fork out and went over the red pontiac potato patch to see what i had missed ( i always do...it's like harvesting jerusalem artichokes...you never get them all and i wound up with volunteer spuds and sunchokes )...what i found was another 2 1/2 pounds of potatoes ( and i may go over it again ) one of them was half rotten ( nothing quite like that smell ) so i tossed the bad half and cut the remainder in two to callus it...i will be planting them in containers outside and moving them indoors for another winter potato season under the lights to produce what seed potatoes i can for next spring...i will probably grow some ollalas as well since they aren't that easy to come by and i need a winter project to keep me occupied...i have gifted around twelve pounds of spuds from out there and i have ten pounds here in the kitchen...potatoes have had a good year.
