eggplants resurgent

there has been some weeding at the community garden and it has produced some surprises...two in fact,,,in addition to the eggplant that was hiding out in the brussels sprouts...there were two more sizable ones under cover as well...have to wonder if removing the screen was a favor to them but it was nice to find the plants still resilient in the face of so much predation ( i haven't inventoried chewed off stems yet but i'm guessing somewhere between fifteen and twenty )...the squirrels are still there watching from the railings...hopefully these eggplants are a bit too large for them to attack...the repellant did not seem overly successful however i put down some more just to make me feel better if nothing else
