autumn paradox
from a coolish start it turned into a relatively warm first of october here in the calumet region and when i got home i found some new movement and continued growth on a sunny autumn afternoon...seven of the yema de huevos potatoes that had been defying my storage efforts by sprouting in the box i had them in( when they arrived form the potato introduction station in sturgeon's bay wisconsin they were sprouting in that box too...impatient )are up and running in the bushel baskets i planted them in for eventual placement under the grow light in the basement once the weather turns cold..there were more than that and we will see what comes up over the next few days...i planted some green manures along with them to help keep the soil fertile...another experiment in inter-cropping...this may work...it may fail..we will learn something though and that's the point.
