wandering the iuncg II

finally a decent photo of annual rye going to seed in the green manure bed...a cluster of blooms form the hairy vetch...also on its way to seed ( the race is on! i fear the frost will win )...winter wheat filling in really well...a fine stand next spring...and the seed tubers for the community garden's first flirtation with a native perennial have arrived...they are in my refrigerator and will be in the garden day after tomorrow...look for a saturday morning blog...planting won't take long ( these are relentless natives and won't need pampering or cajoling to grow...they will devour anything that gets in their way...ask the lemon balm they choked out in my yard this past season...that was a display of their ability to shade out anything that tries to get a foothold...no need to mulch for weeds...anything that germinates becomes mulch.
