new growth at the iuncg

the sweet corn ( top photo ) has a a new addition ( second photo ) which brings the total number up and running to lucky thirteen...three more sprouts will give us the full compliment of sixteen that were planted...new strawberries are coming in and with more blooms opening there should be more soon...i have been advised to harvest them as soon as they are red so the first crop will be rather a smallish lot...i would expect them to stall as far as production is concerned as the weather warms into summer and to pick up again as it cools towards autumn...we'll see if i know what i am talking about as time passes...there are beets up in the hopi blue maize bed..i couldn't see leaving the center of the bed open and the root crop won't interfere with the maize...hopefully someone like beets ( i will respectfully pass )...all the yukon gold potatoes have put in an appearance and seem to be every bit as happy as the red nordlands...the staggered planting should give us potato harvests in both july and august...i know there will be takers on organic spuds...there is continued movement out there and doubtlessly surprises as well as the season goes on...more as it comes up.
