seed heads at the pgp

the pgp held up well in last night's storms and the seed heads on the grasses are proliferating...the top photo is of a land institute plant from accession C3-3486...the second photo is of the forage wheat grass i planted in 2010...and the third is of another land institute plant from accession C3-2627...the rain and warm weather ( until today anyway ) have set the grasses to growing at a quick pace and all are nearing three feet in height...the last two photos are of terminal spears on the eastern gamagrass...the second bunch has developed a seed head to augment the four on the southern bunch... with more stems in the process of developing terminal spears it looks as though there will be nearly as much reproductive activity in the gamagrasss as last season...it just wasn't eighty degrees in march this year and the process is developing a bit more in tune with its usual tempo...the fire put paid to my proposed attempt to establish a stand of gamagrass here at home from seeds harvested on campus...this year may different story.
