the fortunes of gardeneing

there are always losses in the garden...accidents, predators, weather...no guarantees...something has nailed one of the sweet corn plants ( second photo )...so i will soak a few more seeds and replant...there is probably still enough time in the season to get a plant to maturity so we will utilize the space...a few more weeks and the window on corn planting will definitely close...on the plus side the rest of the corn in the bed and the yukon gold potatoes all look well...in fact the garden looks well...the cucumber are coming along ( top photo ) and the kohlrabi is firmly in place ( fourth photo )...if you step back and take in the whole picture there are far more successes than losses...the garden's productivity isn't in question...there are just some non-linear events going on...happens to all of us.
