production and reproduction

the two daughter plants i pinned down last week have taken root and each has produced a further runner ( which i will be potting for my nascent nursery )...but they aren't alone in reproducing...more stolons seem to be coming out of the woodwork, so i cut some more pins and arranged the runners in a reasonable pattern ( fourth photo )...meanwhile other plants are busy producing fruit...an obvious energy trade off between runners and berries and i wonder if the berry producing plants will turn their attention to runners while those that are colonizing the bed now begin to think of berries...it's probable by what i have seen so far...either way the strawberry bed is a thriving bunch of plants doing what they do best...more results as they come in.
