one of the potatoes i cut to callus on friday seems to be rather anxious to get started...that green isn't alkaloids from exposure to sunlight, it's sprouting...so i made sure it got a home today...en a couple of the government potatoes i planted in the half barrel last weekend have broken through the soil surface and have started to leaf...i still have a number of these federal tubers to plant for the storage experiment and i truly hope to get them in the ground by next weekend..but there is a great deal of time pressure this coming week and it may have to wait a bit longer...still, we will be seeing how well traditional potato storage shakes out in my basement come harvest.
