april first at the iuncg

it's very early in the season and all in all it's pretty quiet in the garden...there is garlic up and i counted an even dozen of asparagus spears ( first five photos are the highlights )up this morning...so there is movement even if it is slow...oddly, every time i got to the garden of late i have found jerusalem artichokes on the surface of my bed ( sixth )...i am uncertain as to the cause...frost heave seems unlikely since the nighttime temperatures rarely get below freezing for any extended periods anymore...critters? i haven't any real clue...they are rooting and would grow however as i find them i am returning them to about three inches below the surface where they belong...they will sprout soon enough and this nonsense will ,hopefully ,end.
